 Ok I hate to be a complainer, I work at a dealership and we installed an ATS transmission for a customer, now the truck will not move and has no line pressure, we have contacted ATS over a month ago, now they have informed myself and the customer that we have at least a 2 week wait before they will start building him a new transmission. Anybody else have this kind of support from them? #@$%!

I looked at my thread and realized was not to clear, we installed transmission and the customer got to drive it about a month and then vehicle would not move any more in any gear, but it would hold park, we checked and the pump is out, we are getting no line pressure, Anyway we have been waiting on ATS since 7 May and finally above is the answer we get, neither I or the customer is very satisfied with this.

Your not the first. Its unfortunate, but, a valid complaint. Its really unacceptable that it has taken this long to get back to you and that much longer to propose a solution.

Good customer service is key to repeat business, bad customer service is the key to failure. Rules of business and they should step up.

My sons friend has an 07 6. 7 with the 6speed auto. He asked me what transmission to go with and at the time ATS was basically to only firm that offered a complete transmission. He bought one had an ATS certified shop install it. After 3 weeks truck wouldn't move. After several phone calls they (ATS) wouldn't even take his calls anymore. It took him threatening to dispute the charges for them to finally ship a new trans. BTW 6 months later the transmission is not working right again. I feel like a heal for recommending them. Customer service? What customer service? Not with them.

ATS was at for a time the foremost transmission inventor/Builder,it saddens Me that they have allowed their company to sink so low. I hope they can rethink the direction they are taking and regain what has been lost before it's to late. It's starting to look like the Warranties they offer on there transmission Products they offer are looking like a depression move if they don't starting standing behind it.

now they have informed myself and the customer that we have at least a 2 week wait before they will start building him a new transmission.
Ouch... if a job goes bad in our shop it goes to the front of the line, work after hours and or weekend, whatever it takes to take care of a job that has already been paid for.

Nothing wrong with the check so nothing wrong with the work is only fair.

About four years ago while I was transporting trailers a fellow transporter with an '05 Ram dually had a full ATS transmission rebuild done and installed by Scheid Diesel in IL close to his home.

Every time he started up a grade with a load the ECM/PCM detected what the computer interpreted as torque converter slip and set a code and put the engine in the limp mode. Each time he was forced to surrender his load to another transporter and take his truck to wherever ATS told him to take it.

ATS tried to fix it at their home shop in CO and another time at an authorized installer in Fort Worth. They couldn't figure out what was wrong and ultimately refused to refund his money, do anything further, or take his calls. He was trying to make a living as a transporter and lost so many paying loads, so much income, he went broke, filed bankruptcy, and his truck was repossessed.

Around the same period of time my DTT rebuild was trouble free.

Others can draw their own conclusions.

This is really surprising. I had a full ATS transmission installed in my 99. I had some issues with codes but nothing that couldnt be cured. I can guarantee allot of the times these issues can be traced back to the installer. I had mine installed at Bellflower Trans in So Cal. Larry is the owner but Bob is the brains when it comes to the interface with the ECM.

I got a call personally from Clint at ATS while I was having issues. Once the issues are ironed out their excellent units. ATS may have lost some QC when they began to go big time, as do other companies like Banks.

Dang i am glad i did not pick ATS, sounds like their stuff have fallen off a cliff now. I love my Goerend transmission in my truck and love the customer service! No problems with it yet just great performance!

I had trouble with my ATS about a a year after install. The TC was slipping badly and I made many calls to ATS about it and their excuse was ... ... my truck was abused!! How can a 6K trailer abuse a truck capable of hauling something at least 3 times that weight?? The '5-Star' was dubbed the 'best' money could buy and boasted being able to withstand 2K ft. lbs. of torque..... which my truck was no where near!!! Matter of fact..... when I had the trans replaced, the truck was only mildly modded with a Smarty and 100hp injectors.

Long story short..... I needed my truck and I had read all of the horror stories about warranty with them and the huge hassle and simply went with a Goerend!! Now this transmission is awesome and cost a fraction of what my ATS was priced at. The TC doesn't slam into lock-up like the 5-Star did:rolleyes:I can actually use my lock-up as another gear now without the fear of throwing my driveshaft out and having my trailer run over it:-laf! In their defense though..... they did WANT me to ship the transmission back to them so they could have a look..... at my expense of removal and shipping!! I declined that option and used the $1000 bucks or more as a downpayment for a new transmission from a much more qualified builder.

As Harvey posted... ... use my experience with them however you please, but I spoke the truth and gave you guys the whole story here..... including ATS's plan for warranty at my expense. I was supposed to be buying a transmission capable of handling anything a 3rd Gen truck can put out..... let alone a midly modded 2nd gen. Like I said, most of the ATS transmission's life in my truck was with the Cummins at maybe 300 rear wheel hp... ... it is probably at 450 to 500 now with the Goerend in place. The ATS would have ripped my new 5th wheel hitch to shreds the way it always slammed into lock-up..... I always hated how it locked!!! They said it was normal for high-performance transmission's to do that and I alwys had to lift off of the throttle and manually shift it to compensate and make it shift less aggressively.

I'll give a vote for DTT, the ATS shop is about a hour from me here in Colorado, but due to negative post about ATS and their service I went w/ DTT. Never a problem, of course I only have about 10K on the trany, and have only pulled several loads of 12K or better. No issues or problems, Thanks Lasor Bob.

Here is an update, I gave this info to customer on Friday, He made contact with ATS all of a sudden they have another transmission on the way to my shop. As I stated we are a certified Dodge dealership we have replaced a few dodge transmissions, I believe this one is strictly a pump problem, Should have another transmission on Wednesday

I wonder if ATS has been reading this forum? They were a TDR advertiser, don't know if they still are.

IMO ATS may have devoted more resources to fancy advertising than to customer service and product improvement.

Well heres my 2 cents. I went with ATS after I lost second gear. I chose them due to a Dodge dealer cost of $4,400. 00 with a three day turnover and NO warranty due to power adders. (See SIG) ATS was very helpfull and answered all my questions. Also paid my fuel bill to go there and home for install form Minnesota. One day turnover and ride to wherever I wanted to go while there. It's been almost a year and no problems yet. I am happy with the service and the price was only $600. 00 more than the dealer. Hopefully I will have no problems for as long as I own it. They claim Five Year or 500,000 mile warranty. I can only go with my experience and it was nothing but positive. Also was given a tour of the shop from top to bottom and it was clean and looked to be very well run.

Sorry forgot to update well we got transmission in and installed it for customer, due to a mix up at our shop we were 2 days late get it back to customer got slammed while waiting on transmission, The customer said this one is way better, shifts smoother and handles loads better. So the customer is happy

I used an ATS converter with a HTS trans. bad combo only lasted 4700k miles. i bought a used truck on ebay. it had a gorend full billet trans in it. the previous owner on had a smarty, afe stage 2 and gauges. we added dual cp3 120hp injectors much more aggressive tuning, airflow mods, finally we kill the transmission shortly after we added twin turbos. we had level 10 rebuild the 48re becuase they were just within driving range. big mistake. next time we're going to gorend.
