ATS transmission Problems

Finally got a ATS transmission with billet flex plate and input shaft. I'm running my old triplelok that has about 20,000 miles on it. I was excited at first and then became quickly disappointed. It didn't slingshot me like everybody describes on here after they've put a performance transmission in. I didn't get a lock-up controller and I wonder if thats the reason why it doesn't work to my expectations or is it the old torque converter with new transmission?

Also the next day the truck didn't want to go into park very often and I had a whole bunch of new codes: p0524, p0713, p0868 and p1757. I've never had these codes before. Gillett Diesel in Salt Lake City installed it and I was going to contact them today, but got off work late.

If any of you can help me out with any suggestions or similar situations I would appreciate it. Thanks

That controller for lock up is where the sling shot comes from. Being able to adjust when the converter locks up makes big difference.

speddyjdl, the ATS Commander will lock the T/C clutch anywhere from about 18 to 51 mph. When it locks, it would chirp the tires if you have your right foot mashed down. I now have the ATS 5-Star converter which seems alot tighter hydraulically othan my original TripleLok but the clutch lockup is about the same. I would say go for the ATS Commander, its not a hard install just a little confusing on which wires to hook-up due to the variations in Dodges wiring. I just called their tech support. The TripleLok was far superior to the stock T/C but I think the new 5-Star is even that much better. (I know it's a never ending cycle. ) I hope this helps. Oo.

Thanks guys. I guess I will get the controller and hope for the best.

Still trying to get a hold of Gillett Diesel. Everyone is busy and nobody will return my calls. I got to get the codes cleared up and my park issue taken care of.

I'm not sure which stater clint is using these days but my 99 had an aggressive one, when the oil was cold and the transmission in neutral the truck would move .

Get the Commander and adjust the "DIP" switches on the back to their most aggressive settings and you will be drag strip ready. ;)

Mac

I have the Controller too, and it doesn't lock that hard going into OD, do you guys leave the OD off when racing? I can't even tell when it goes into lockup when I'm runnin through the gears. Macdaddy, what will the switches change? I thought it will hold it locked until about 8 mph vs. 18.

I like how the truck feels, but I want to see the strong acceleration from the commander. Just kind of confused on how to get the most out of it.

Dropped off my truck at Gillett Diesel after work today and on the way there the truck ran totally different again. Checked codes when I got there and had a new one: p1752. I've never had this one before either. Did a search here and found no matches. Any ideas guys?

Customer service at Gillett Diesel is awesome. Drove truck home today and it seemed to run better. When I pulled into the drive way I shut her down and checked for codes and p1757 is back again so I guess I'll have to call Gillett Diesel again.
