Sorry about the spelling, its ben a very long day for some one that is retired (tired?) and slightly retarded

sorry about the spelling

No heating troubles... the lockup clutch stays locked up so well that the transmission spends little time in "torque converter" mode. Usually, the temp gauge does not even budge.

What lockup problems? It can be a little hesitant going into lock (takes a few seconds), but once locked, seems to stay there. Not sure if this helps.

If you like to shift the transmission locked, get as much Billet parts that you can. I didn't, and now, I'm having to put them in, under circumstances I would rather not have to put them in under.

Well My 2nd triple lock controller is not working ,it lights up. The check engine comes on and it won' go into lockup or overdrive. I guess i'll have to call ATS again.

controler problems

I haven't had any problems with my ATS converter and valve body, but I do not use their controler. If you have replaced one already, I would start suspecting some electrical problem external to the transmission. Are you haveing any other strange electrical symptoms? Just a couple ideas. Don or Clint should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hope you resolve it soon.

The trans should not be overheating... what temps are you seeing? Call Clint on the lockup controler issue.

Mine has been flawless... I can't say enough good things about it. :D :D :D

I've hardly seen temps in my ATS above 140 and I've NEVER seen them above 155 driving a LOT in stop and go 90+ degree weather with about a thousand pounds of load. If it does get up to 150 or so, as soon as I hit an open spot and the TC locks up, the temps go down. That is one reason I bought the ATS, so that the temps would stay low. With some other trans builders, who depend mostly on fluid coupling, the temps get hotter. The higher the temp, the sooner the trans wears out!

My ATS Stage IV has worked flawlessly for over a year and 24,000 miles.

If you are having problems call Clint Cannon. 800-949-6002

I also agree, if ATS has replaced your controller, it is probably NOT the controller, but some other electrical component which is the problem. The controllers are solid state and are pretty darn good.

ATS tc and lockup

I have the stage four I'm on my 2nd controller . It's shot now and will not come out of lockup and stalls when I try to stop. My temps in stop and go traffic can get up to 235! and will not cool down in park. Next week the truck is going to Precision Diesel to get fixed. I hope. Jim Shaw

My experience

I have the triple lock convertor and lockup controller. I have had no problems whatsoever. My transmission temps ascending 8% grades in summer here have never exceeded 156 degrees. I can now tow in overdrive on flat and low rolling hills with no problems. My EGT hits 706 degrees on 8% grades. Boost is at 26. 4.

If you are having a "no-unlock" symptom, I would suspect that you have programmed the controller to do just that. I have learned that one push of the up or down button gives you only half of the value that the instructions tell you. If you have two blue indicators, you could have a 17 MPH unlock, or maybe a 25 MPH. This would explain the attempt to stall your engine. I currently have the blue indicators set at two lights. This unlocks at 17 MPH, which is almost a stall. If I push once on the up button, I get three blue lights, and unlock at 25. If I then push once on the down button, I get about 22 MPH unlock. It seems that you need to program up, then down to achieve the desired unlock speed.

The convertor is so low in stall speed, it's almost like a manual transmission. I'm very pleased so far, and towing my Arctic Fox 27 F is a whole new experience, all good.

Clint should and will help you if you call him. Good people.

ATS tc stall

I have had this second controller in my truck for 10,000 miles and know very well how to use it. When I say it stalls I mean the truck shuts off when coming to a stop. I have to shift into neutral and then stop. To take off I have torev the moter and gun it to not stall. I don't think this is a feature of the controller by any means, or the 235 degree temps either. I agree it's a good product (when working right) I have also delt with clint and have had no problems with their service. I am just relaying my current situation with ATS as asked in this thread. Jim Shaw.

Also, it won't cool in Park because not enough fluid is circulating to cool it. With stock operation, in Park, there isn't even enough fluid circulating to lubricate it! But ATS machines the V. B. to at least lube it in park. I believe the 47RH & 47RE will lube and cool in Neutral.

ATS TRANS

I'm on long island, NY. One of the reasons I picked ATS was because of the fluid circulation in park. I disconected the controller so it would come out of lockup. That worked for the lockup but not the temps. Precision Diesel on long island is an ATS dealer and is taking the truck this week. Hopefully they can fix the problem. Jim Shaw.

FYI,

Don doesn't work there anymore.

I still have the original knob style ATS lockup controller, its works flawless, and has never malfunctioned.

Call Clint, he will take care of the problem 1800 949 6002.

Just relaying the facts. I called a few weeks back to talk to him and that is what I was told.

I still have the ATS controler with the twist knob and it worked perfectly for 30,000 miles untill I replaced it with the Emjay controller that is awesome to say the least.

Trans temps run at 145 degrees 70 mph on Interstate unloaded in 90 plus degree weather. It will climb to 160 in stop at go traffic, and 150 160 towing 4 horses. Temp sender is in the Mag hytec Double deep pan.

What happened to Don Ramer, I also heard he was no longer there.

My ATS trans ran very hot and blew out reverse a couple of months after I had it installed. ATS had a shop here rebuild it.

Problem was some valve was bad. After the rebuild the trans worked better than when I first got it! Shop here said the trans

never was getting much pressure because of the faulty valve.

To ATS' credit, they took care of me right away and of course

paid for the complete rebuild. I have two of their twist knob type controllers and have not had a problem with either one. I need

to run 2 controllers because I have a RH trans and my truck

originally came with the RE. I actually like it better this way. One controller dials in lockup, and other OD. Very happy with my trans now. It doesn't run hot anymore.
