I'm looking for some info here on the ATS Xcellerator downloader for our trucks. Does anyone out here have one, and do you you like it?

Second, will it stack with a Banks 6-gun? If not, I'm thinking about scrapping the Banks, though I'm not sure yet.

Third, what does the ATS do? Timing, pressure or pulse? I'm sure it's two of the three, but which ones?

Thanks - Wayne

It will stack with the Edge just fine, the only problem is the xcelerator will not work on a 2006 6spd so you would want to make sure that is pre 06.

I purchased the ATS Xcelerator about 3 1/2 months ago after the Denver Shop had installed a TC, VB. TripleLok Commander and exhaust brake last spring. This unit plugs into the OBD receptacle under the dash. My understanding from reading the instruction manual and some discussions with ATS is that the initial use of the programmer will download the stock program into memory and the VIN# so the use of the programmer is limited to my truck. Following this initial download, one can download one of three high performance settings (towing, performance or extreme performance). I have only used the "TOWING" program. The performance is very impressive and I believe the mileage has improved by 2-3 MPG. It takes a few minutes to change programs but after loading a program and disconnecting the programmer there is no physical hardware associated with the performance upgrade. The stock program must be downloaded for a Dodge dealer to use their diagnostic scanners. This programmer also has a port so future program upgrades can be downloaded to the module by ATS. In addition, if a Dodge service center reflashes the stock program the ATS module will download the new stock program so when the switching to one of the performance settings it is possible to return to the new stock program. The unit will also read and reset trouble codes which I feel is a huge advantage on the road. I feel that this unit provides all the features I was looking for while avoiding the need to add additional hardware (cables, connectors, switches etc. ) to the vehicle. The performance and fuel economy in the “TOW” setting is outstanding. This is my first diesel truck and I admit that my diesel knowledge is limited so others may dispute my understanding of the features of this unit. Overall, I am very satisfied with the ATS products added to my 2005 CTD.
