Off Roading Desert Fab Motor Sports Axle Truss

Off Roading Rock Rails/Sliders on a 3rd Gen

Pullers, please contact me -- email address removed -- and let me know what class you are pulling in, if you'd be interested in pulling more than one class, if you are pulling both days, and what brand truck you are entering.

Trying to get an idea of the time we will have to work with.

Thanks,

Gene

How sticky are they going to be on the pulls. Most of the guys out here including myself do not have alot of the safety stuff and have no desire to install it. I do not have a fuel or air shut-off,driveshaft loops or u joint sheilds and my exhaust does not point up. I understand you guys have rules but I only pull for fun.

TJ, most of those you mentioned are in our DPO and Messetti rules, and WE should be trying to enforce them. Saftey is for life perhaps you should say I am trying to kill somebody for fun. Doesn't make sense huh

Well, DHRA has no desire to let you shoot a turbo wheel into the crowd.

Start with the easy stuff.

An elbow to shoot your exhaust straight up, 5 minutes. A transmission blanket, 10 minutes, Exposed U-joint shields, an hour or two. Read the rules for the class you want to pull in, they all have different safety rules according to HP.

Our safety rules are very fair, and based on past breakage. (keep in mind, not too long ago they ALL were driven on the street. )

"I drive it on the street and pull for fun" is not an excuse to put other people in danger.

Gene, is there going to be a run for fun day like there was in Texas? That worked pretty well allowing more guys who wanted to pull for "fun" to get involved. Then obviously there would be the competitive Classes.

So if we get by with the above mentioned will you let slide the shield over the rear axle bolts, manual fuel shutoff and air shutoff perhaps? It's gonna take enough money(for me anyway) to come up with a helmet, decent fire jacket to wear, functionable transmission blanket and making up more driveshaft loops to cover the whole rear shaft instead of just the rear u-joint. Not trying to be smart-azz just trying to see what we can get by with. There is a huge rule difference in Street Diesel to Super Street safety-wise and I for one just want to comply as much as possible to be able to run SS and not just SD. :)

Joe, just get it set up for DHRA's version of Street Diesel, and that will get you right in there for where you want to be for the local pulls out here. I wouldn't worry too much about being set up for DHRA SS, you honestly want no part of that class, its a whole different ball of wax, not to mention, there won't likely be many trucks that fit that class this year in Vegas. The DHRA street is where you want to be, that is a very competitive class and has the most trucks. That would be my suggestion.

Ya what he said.

We are looking at time constraints right now. If you just want to hook your truck to see what it will do, I highly suggest entering a class. The only difference is between that and an exhibition, is the guys up front are getting money. The sled will be the same.

You guys still have a month left, get working on safety!!!!

Oh and don't forget to BIULD A LEGITIMATE HITCH!

I wish I had a video of the ujoint that went into the stand at a local pull. Literally sounded like someone threw a rock at the bleachers. Everybody who thinks ujoint shields are a waste of time or not needed needs to think about what if a little kid would have been sitting there and now only has one eye. No one was hurt, I was so ****** about it, cause the guy who was running the truck new better. Ujoint shields don't have to effect driveability and if done right can prevent damage to the truck also. We have a truck that has over 10K miles on his truck with all of the safety stuff.

A few years ago I thought my truck did not need driveshaft loops. I almost hit my wife with ujoint caps on a measly 400 horse pump gas truck. Another pull I was at, a ujoint cap embedded itself into a 6" wood post, right in between some onlookers, from a small block street truck. It ain't that hard to make a u-joint shield to contain the parts. I know of a 500 horse smoker that gets driven around here all the time, with driveshaft loops on it. Pulling trailer, street abuse, and weekend pulls... ... .....

Guess I will stick with SD and hope for the best since I am already set-up for that class safety-wise. I already have a shield around the rear axle u-joint as well as the front axle, guess I should make up two more for the carrier and output shaft joints before Vegas. I highly doubt mine will break with my upgrade to 1480s in the rear but ya never know, better to be safe than sorry. :)
