draft schedule for May Madness 2009

May Madness 09

Well, I for one, can't wait to get to Parumph for May Madness. My only regret is that I will only be able to be there for a couple of days instead of the whole week.

Sure, not having some of the events (dyno, etc. ) is like losing the "icing" on the cake but, for me, the "cake" is seeing all the friends I have met over the years, again. For this, I'm very grateful!!!

Is there a final schedule of events here on the TDR site someplace? I am south of Vegas on a work project that just finished, been thinking of making an impromptu detour to May Madness before going back to Oregon, HOWEVER, I will need to kill Friday-Sunday just to get to the event, if most of the planned activities are later in the week that is probably too much time out of my schedule. In addition, I checked all of the Hotels in Parumph on their web sites a couple of weeks ago and no go on rooms, might be a deal killer too at this late date. I have never been to this event, BUT with me practically being there already instead of driving a 1000 miles it seems a shame to miss out.

So, what can be expected to happen say Monday and Tuesday? The only event I 'might" be interested in is the show and shine and right now my truck isn't very shinny, after being in the desert a week, LOL.

Joe, you going to be there Friday?

Hi Mark,

I'm going to try to get out of Phoenix on Thursday afternoon/evening. Will try to make it to a truckstop outside of (east) Kingman & may spend the night there. Then, on to Parumph.

I'm going to "play it by ear". I've got to get Thursday's & Friday's work done before I can leave. So, Thursday will be a bit busy, for me. Last year, I left very early Friday morning. Just too tired to leave on Thursday PM.

Looking forward to seeing you & everyone else. Are you driving the First Gen?

Joe F.

Does it also seem right to have the swap meet along with the all hands Display and Discuss? Not sure I like Display and Discuss title, I need to come up with something better than that... .

Obviously 'Show & Tell' is too mundane. How about 'Brandish & Brag'? That'll fit a lot of things. And 'BnB' rolls off the tongue real easy-like. :D

JOE,

Thanks for the "draft schedule".

MARK,

Doesn't matter to me which truck you drive. Whichever is the most fun, I suppose.

I may not be able to make it, this year. My sister, in Cincinnati, called yesterday to inform our family that her 23 year old son is in the ICU at a hospital in Cleveland with the most severe form of pneumonia. Two doctors told her that he probably wouldn't survive. However, last night, she called to say that he has improved (out of the coma, moving & recognizing people). He has been severly handicapped since birth, including severe lung infections most, if not all, of his life. Only a small portion of his lungs still function. He's a tough kid, though. He was expected to pass-away so many times that I lost track of the numbers. Hopefully, he will beat this, again.

In the event of the worst case scenario, I will have to go to Cincinnati.

Well, I decided to return home, would of liked to spend some time at the event, I just couldn't justify detouring to Parumph without having an inkling of the scheduled events.

I realize that a lot of work goes into these events and want to take nothing away from Joe and crew, BUT not having at least a draft schedule posted until 03-May when the event starts 04-May is not conducive to attracting participants sitting on the fence. Of course it would be nice to just come and BS for a week, however, some of us don't have that luxury. As I see it you would have to be committed to going with no schedule and for those that have never attended this week week long event we really have no idea what to expect so that commitment is hard to do.

I hope all that attend have a great time, looks like a full schedule.

Hey Juanito, nice seeing you again this year your truck is looking good keep up the hard work.

I hope everyone enjoyed the "Ram Nut Roundup" and I can't wait to see the finished photo of the trucks once Greg has a chance to photoshop my truck so it can look a bit newer than it is !!! I want to Thank Greg and Tim again for making the group picture happen, I am sure it is going to look great.

I would like to do it again next year but want to find a better location for the picture and bbq at the same place. It would be nice if I can find some shade it that darn town.

Hey Blair good to see you again this year. Whatever happened to your friend with that clean gold 2nd gen that was suppose to be driving with you? Your truck is also super clean bro. I’m not as good a mechanic as you although I have plenty of time to tinker with my truck. I surprised it cleaned up as well as it did for the Show-N-Shine. After arriving home Sunday morning the truck look awful.

Thanks for putting the “Ram Roundup” I really enjoyed it. Let us all know where we can download the group picture.

We might want to do all our outdoor stuff like Show-N-Shine, Rodeo and Roundup first thing in the morning when the temperature is more manageable. You better show up next year with a small diesel engine on that blender of yours…Yanmar makes a small 4 HP diesel. :-laf

JBONPUA,

Thanks for your kind thoughts & prayers for my nephew. As it turned out, he passed away at 3:00 AM Tues. (5/5/09). So, I had to fly out of Phoenix to Cincinnati, OH. on Thurs. AM, for his funeral. Didn't get back til Sun. PM. Sure was sorry to have missed May Madness. I always have a great time, there, & really missed seeing everyone.

I phoned Nancy Simerly to let her know that I would not be able to attend, this year. She offered to refund my registration fee but, I declined. I thought that was very nice of her but, I'm glad to contribute the money. Besides, it wasn't her fault that I could not attend at the last moment. Anyway, I really appreciate her kind offer. What a nice bunch of folks!!!!!

I'm glad everyone had a good time & can't wait for next years May Madness. I know patience is a virtue but, waiting a year just may kill me!!!

Thanks again.

Our buddy Dave is MIA, he won't return my calls or anyone elses for that matter but I know he is alive because friends in the neigborhood have seem him ???

You are very welcome for the roundup glad I could help with something, next year I hope to find a better location but because I live 9 hours away I am not to sure how I am going to do that. Am am going to start by asking the people at the dealership for suggestions and go from there.

I am not so sure about the diesel mixer, heck I wouldn't even need the mixer part if I used a diesel it would just vibrate it well enough. :-laf

See you all next year !!!

Blair

Joe F,

Sorry to hear of your nephew's passing.

Blair,

Is Dave okay? Maybe he will come around and will start talking again.

There is not many paved place in Pahrump you can line up 55-60 Rams. I'm sure you'll come up with something. Just keep my suggestion in mind to start it first thing in the morning.

I hope to make it next year.
