Most people don't think there is a sled pull for Pickup trucks in Texas, but there is. First weekend in August in De Leon, Texas It is called the Peach and Melon Festival. I'd like to see more Dodge Trucks this year, last year a Stroke won it, I'd hate to see that happen again. If you need more info on it, just pm me. I believe the entry fee is like 20 bucks, I'll try to find out for sure.

Gonna be in Vegas giving my money away that weekend..... otherwise I would be there. Not pullin, just cheerin' on the Dodge boys!!!!!!!

I would absolutely LOVE to go pull again. That stuff is addicting.

But unfortunately, I'll be out of the state as well.

I hate that I'm missing a pull here in Texas.

Chris, just leave me the keys to your truck. :D :D

If I had a 4x4 I would enter even though I wouldn't make it very far. $20 buck is a spit in the ocean if it will get more chances like this here in Texas.

Andrew

Not a chance, drew. :)

A long time ago, (at tulare, maybe?) Piers pulled with his front driveshaft removed and did alright.

You can pull with your 2wd. It'd be fun anyways.

We need at least one member of the TDR to go represent us.

Surely with all the Texan TDR members, we have ONE person with a 4x4 that we can convince to go.

Who can we send? Any ideas. All my buddies have 2wd's.

It would be interesting to see how the local competition here in Texas stacks up to what we saw in Muncie.

Unlike me, Piers has bowling ba!!s between his legs. ;) :D Not to mention a crap-load more power.

What about Cord? Think that "stock" auto will hold?

Sled Puller,

Yes, I'm serious. Friends of mine started telling me about this pull a few weeks ago. I've heard that a powerstroke has won a few times and other people tell me a 454 has been winning. Who knows.

Someone at Muncie showed up with a gas rig and got to pull last, I believe. It might have been a 460 ford. If I remember correctly, it pulled about 150 feet and just bogged down. :)

I just kind of imagine that is the quality of the better pullers down here in Texas. :)

Met the 454. He put a DOT on my truck last weekend. Guess I might have to come watch. He said a DC running 500hp+ has been pulling lately & stripped his diff??

I'd be glad to make the short drive from Winters if all the Texas boys would take up a collection to pay for all my broke parts when I am done pulling.

Hell, I will pull all day long if people are gonna pay for my broken parts, but I think I would have better luck trying to make 600hp on #2 with my 1st gen and that's not gonna happen.

Allright, I'll do it. Gonna have to hook up my pump wire! I've only got the stock weenie tires, but oh well. Unless someone wants to fork over $700 or $800 for some BFG muds. :D Don't count on me winning since I'm a little lacking in the power department. Oh yeah, what do I need to hook up to the sled?

Brian

P. S. Just do it Andrew! Might as well be two of us getting stomped. That way I don't look as bad. ;)

I do not know the rules, but I would think it's a 26" hitch rule. Just remember to slip that clutch off the line a little, right Gene?:p ;)

Andrew

Just like the Muncie video with the white smoke pouring out from underneath the truck, right.

Brian

Andrew, I edited my last post after you made yours. Ooops. Go back and read it. :)

Hillcountrykid,

Let me warn you. That stuff is addicting. :)

I asked about hitches both on here and Diesel Central and never got a good answer about what I needed from anyone.

Basically, you just need a receiver hitch with no ball in it. Buy a large clevis from TSC or any good hardware store and put the clevis in the hole where to ball normally goes. They'll just hook a MONSTER hook into the clevis.

They'll measure the top of the hitch itself, not where the hook rides in the clevis.

Remember that you'll be airing down your tires, that might affect the height some if you're close to going over.

Don't worry too much about tires. I thought everyone needed swamper boggers or something VERY aggressive, but it varies a ton from track to track. Stock tires often work very well.

Good luck,

Chris

Brian,

Dude, you got 4x4, i got 2x4. I think you might have been smacked on the head with a 2x4 if you think i would go ANYWHERE with that thing in 2 wheel drive. :p ;) :D
