The KDP jig will be in BC and Alberta the next few weeks. Since shipping over the boarder appears to be very expensive or very slow it would be great to knock out the northern dowel pins in one shot. Send me a message to get on the list.

I will try to assist those in and around the Edmonton, Alberta area if they are unsure of this fix. I have performed several "KDP washer tab" fixes to trucks up here as I did not think the jig would ever make it across the 49th parallel. Not to scare anyone sitting on the fence up here, but Cummins Alberta (Edmonton) is aware of this problem after one of their service trucks went down before Christmas!

Regards,

Marc

Hello Marc-good to see you made it on here! I may pick your brain here in a while about tabbing info-I've got a couple running around down here that should be done if I can convince the owners of such-a '94 and a '98. I think we're gonna tab instead of jig just to have a look around inside and make sure there's no other bolts loosening up... .

Jason, how are ya buddy? I like the washer tab fix as it gives a good excuse to set the timing. With the front cover off, one can easily clean the pump gear and shaft surfaces to ensure no slip after the timing is set. The pins I have arrested initially projected 1/32" to 1/8" out from the housing.

Talk to you soon,

Marc

Yeah both trucks could probably use a timing set as well. The '98 is set to factory spec-verified by the dealer before my brother bought it. But I'm sure it could stand a little advance. The '94 could definitely use some. Actually the guy that owns the '94 is a good friend who worked as a Chrysler mech. for many years-he's about the only guy I trust to work on my truck. And as an added bonus he was lucky enough last fall to purchase the toolset for setting timing-with the barring tool, delivery valve insert and dial indicator! He's been too busy to put it to use-built a new house over the winter and is about 10 days or so away from moving in. Hopefully over the summer he'll get a few slack days between house projects, farming and the odd job that hits his shop to work on his '94-I just about have him convinced to slide a mild little plate in there!

kdp tab

I just did the tab method on mine about a month ago. I didn't do anything with timing when I had the cover off, as I don't know much about it. My pin was about 1/4" out of the hole so it was definately on move. I wanted to do the jig method due to the simplicity of it but it might not have worked with the pin that far out.

I would urge all 12v owners from canada to get on it quick... it's a nasty amount of damage that can occur. The jig method seems too quick and easy to let it slide by.

It only takes about an hour and 10 minutes... . start to finish... . under normal circumstances. I helped do 5 in one day... . it's not that tough... . and everything is worked out so well in the CPFF jig kit... .

See... now Matt's my kind of guy! You could put my user name in place of his and nobody would know the difference! Send me your phone # man-I have some concepts to discuss with you-like my 115% efficient solar powered torque converter! :D :D :D

BTW aliens are trying to take over my CD player... . but I fight them off with a dose of Godsmack!

I bought one of the KDP jigs for our club to use and I could make it available during Scott's July event in Calgary.

Email me if your interested.

Hey guys,

It is nice to hear from some Albertians...

I killed mine with the tab and I was very satisfied with the job I did. Not bad for a non-pro. Cummins of Alberta helped me out quite a bite and I am glad to be a Power Booster member!!!
