Help with brother-in-laws 6.0!

My name is Ryan, I’m from Nor Cal and have a great expanding reputation in my area as a Cummins Diesel/ Dodge Fleet guy. I enjoy selling CTD powered Dodges to the masses just as much as I love driving my own CTD, but lately I feel as if I could better use my resources and diesel service and certifications in a more appropriate environment. Within the past two- three months I get between 4-7 calls per week on Diesel performance recommendations in my area or to the dealership I work for. I get ½ those inquiries just on performance up grades, exhaust brakes, exhaust systems, towing accessories as well as gear and equipment such as gooseneck hitches and fiver hitches etc... I’m going to get in trouble before long because my referral business is almost equal to my fleet sales (not really) but you get the idea. Anyhow I pondered two years ago of jumping into the “Diesel Performance” shop business when things were ripe, since then my lifestyle has changed, time and available capital yet my credit is outstanding and I have resources to the necessary funding if I could prove a significant demand.

Anyway, I have really been thinking I have an opportunity to put my dream into action. The timing, backing and clientele is there to a certain degree, the only thing holding me back, and what I'm looking for to ignite my goal and enthusiasm is the year 2007 and what effect or impact you veterans, vendors and shops are predicting for our industry. I am focusing my business around a ful service Diesel repair shop first, speedshop second, and offering other niche type services like dent repair, complete detailing, Dyno, Hitches and Towing gear, Bumpers, contractors racks and tool boxes etc... on the side, but want to be known as leader in customer service, quality and product in my area.

Sorry to go on and on, but what do some of you think will happen after 2007 and would you still be in this business or start from scratch today and do it over again? Any help appreciated thanks in advance.

-Ryan
