My battery on my polaris sportsman 500HO just died and not wanting to go to the dealer for a new one I need suggestions on what some of you guys are running. I thought maybe optima, but I looked at there site no atv batteries :( I dropped them an E-mail just in case.

So I need what kind and where did you get it! Oo.

Thanks.

Go to NAPA and buy it, the sell Yuasa batteries for Polaris as I just bought one last spring for the boys quad and it was 15 bucks cheaper than the Polaris garage. I'm a little leary of batteries getting tossed around in the mail, it breaks the plates before you get it and looses some life without you even touching it.

I put a Deka battery in my Sportsman 500 HO. It's supposed to be like an Optima type. So far, I like it. My ATV which is a 2004. 5 came with a Yuasa and it didn't last but about 5 months! So I didn't want another one of those. The Deka is made in the USA just like the Polaris :) .

That's odd. Yuassa's have been some of the toughest batteries I have had. My racebike has not been run for 2 years now. Two weeks ago for giggles I turned on the key and lo and behold it showed life as the tach woke up. I hit the starter and it had juuust enough to Klack the starter and that was it she was done. 2 years of sitting with the ecu drawing milivolts off it ... pretty sick eh?

My sled battery (Also a Yuassa) has been out of the sled now for 11 months. Keep in mind that this battery is one of their new space saver units which rival the size of a SMALL exit sighn battery (7" X 1" X 4" ) sure enough it's showing 10. 7 volts right now (But who knows how it'l keep a charge but I suspect well)

I used a odyssey the last time I needed a batt. A buddy owns a Batteries Plus store and told me they are like Optimas for ATV's. I have never had to charge this thing and have cranked my ATV over for 15 minutes with out killing it.
