"2007 Audi Q7 TDI - Car News

Audi introduces a mega-torque V-12 diesel for European Q7s.

BY DAVE VANDERWERP, September 2006

Audi's Q7 will soon have the option of V-12 diesel, the first in a passenger car. Not to be outdone by its little brother, the VW Touareg, which has a 310-hp, V-10 diesel, the Q7's 5. 9-liter V-12 makes a massive 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.

According to Audi, this diesel beast sprints to 60 mph in less than 5. 5 seconds, which is more than two seconds quicker than the 350-hp V-8 in the gas-powered Q7 4. 2. Audi says the diesel's fuel economy approaches 20 mpg, a hair better than the Q7 4. 2.

The twin-turbo V-12 has the latest 29,000-psi Bosch Common Rail fuel delivery system and meets 2010 Euro 5 European emissions regulations.

Q7s in Europe already have a 233-hp, 3. 0-liter V-6 diesel option, and that powerplant is rumored to make an appearance in the U. S. in 2007. However, Audi says there are no plans to bring the V-12 diesel here any time soon. "

Of course we can't get it in the states...

Hey, at least we will soon have diesel options. If they sell well, hopefully we will see more and more options. Europe has so many diesel choices because people BUY and DEMAND diesel power. It should be interesting when we get the option soon. I sure hope everyone who brings diesel power to the states sells all they can make. I am ready to see Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. cars and small SUV's, as well as BMW, Mercedes, and how about a compact pickup with a diesel??? I would love to have a good reliable run-around truck!

If they build it, we will buy it!!!

In the meantime, go out and build it on your own since you can't buy it. :)
