Got a question for all you fart smellers,I mean smart fellers,I disabled my audiable alarm because I didnt like all the ding dong avon lady calling, any way now I can open my door with out it honkin,I was driving to work and I saw my lite come on indicating that im down to 1/4 tank. then I got to thinking (thats scarry) Is there any other audiable alarms other than door open and low fuel? I would not want to miss say a low oil psi audiable if there is such a thing!!
Thanks Kevin 2001 eth dee

There's a ding-ding for if you leave the lights on too.
Don't know about newer models, but on my '95 the ding comes(came) from a blue box near the center under the dash. The lid on mine has a hinged lid with a little bracket inside it that holds the dinger mechanism when you remove it,it was actually designed to be disabled and keep it all together. Good thinking Dodge, why couldn't you put that much thought into other parts? On other rigs whose warning chimes I've disabled if you just pull the plug to the dinger it causes other warnings, like lights not to work(never tried a Ram),I usually just take the chime itself out.

You can always install a marine (wet not military) alarm system. There are sensors available to measure just about anything. The problem with it is that it sounds like a school fire alarm bell when it goes off. Water in the bilge used to almost give us a heart attack on a rough day when the water would slosh to the front of the bilge and raise the float sensor. Works good if you don't mind a wet seat and a fainting spell! #ad

Just found out from another post if you disconnect your dinnger than your window wiper will not work on the delay?some how the delay is connected to the dinnger, #ad
dont ask me ,I didnt design it ?
Illflem says you can take the lil dinger apart and disable just the lil dong itself, thanks Bill.

The ding also happens when your check gauges light comes on. Mine has sounded when my oil pressure dropped to zero (bad sending unit) and when my voltage drops (very cold mornings, when the heater grid draws a bunch power). I'll admit, I don't keep a steady eye on the gauges, so it is an excellent back-up plan when something goes wrong.

The way I disabled the dinger is open the drivers door. Up against the door jam, by your left leg, when seated in the seat, is a push button switch that contols you dome lite and dinger. Pull the switch out( just grab and pull) Clip the brown wire and your dinger will stop dinging. Will not effect any thing else. If you want to clip it about 1 inch behind the switch so you can rewire it back if you ever want too. Hope this helps.

Kevin... Do a search! You should find past info on this. What disable the "Key in ignition" sound was cutting one of the three very small wires (I think it was the yellow on an 99 and 2000) that starts at the ignition switch and runs the steering column. Once you know the wire you can get at it from the knee bolster. Need a special torx screwdriver to get the steering column appart. We did this on several 99 and 2000. Works great. All other buzers (low fuel, lights on, etc) continue to work.

thanks for all the info guys,I think I will go for the wiring on the door switch and if I cant get it that way than I will go for the one in the column,I definatly do not want to dissable anything but the door open alarm! #ad
