After >$1000 and lots of hours I finally like the sound of my audio system in my 04. 5 2500. I too thought the Infinity system was atrocious, not even marginally better than the standard system. Strange because the same system in my 00 Grand Cherokee is awesome and I never felt the need to change it. Part of the problem to be fair was the need to use extensive Dynamat on the doors to get any kind of decent low's.

I have Pioneer head and amp with Diamond Audio speakers. My problem: "ignition"-like noise plus alternator whine coming through the head unit which I can not get rid off. A noise filter from Radio Shack did nothing. It is actually 2 noises, one a very faint alternator like whine which I can live with, but the other is more of a popping sound which changes with engine speed but is lower pitch and louder. It sounds like RF version of diesel clatter. The only way to get rid of it to acceptable levels is to turn the gain on the amp down to lowest. Could it be fuel pump? Any ideas?

BTW, Tommygun might like to know that there is an adapter from STX that will restore function to the steering wheel controls as long as your head unit has an IR remote control. I will be glad to post a scan of my install showing location of the IR transmitter.

One more question, I have the amp 4ga wire going to the driver side battery, would running it to the other battery help? I guess I'll probably try that next!
