Has anyone replaced stock Holset with the Aurora 2000 offerd by ATS? I am looking for some reliable mods to boost power 100-150 hp and do not want to open a big can of worms by putting in a replacement turbo and finding that I then need to add abuch of other modifications to account for the upgraded turbo. Advice?

Could you tell us what you're driving and any existing or future modifications? It would make it a little easier for us to help you spend your cash...

current set-up

I am driving a 99 dodge 24v. I have recently upgraded the auto trans to include dunrite converter and valve body upgrade. The transmission is good to go up to 400-450 hp. I can control manual clutch lock-up. I would like to get another 150 hp taking me to roughly 350. I have not modified anything with the engine, other than running a Horton fan clutch. I have also heard running a Schwitzer turbo with a fuel box may be a reliable option. Thoughts? Thanks for the help. Also, I do some towing with various 5th wheel hitches - up to 15K lbs. I can get by marginally now but the extra horses and torque would be helpful, if it is reliable.

With the A2000 You can bolt it right on without having to do anything like headstuds or o-rings. The A2000 is a Schwitzer based turbo and has been very reliable. We ran it on the dyno set up in a compound twin cofiguration and ran it until the exhaust housing was beginning to turn white, and the A2000 suffered no integrity damage. It is still on the truck today. This turbo is ideal for towing, it spools very quick.

I just switched from a HX 35/40 to the Aurora 2000 and it is amazing the spool up differance and the lower temps. I'm very satisfied with the performance.

I'm interested in the Aurora 2000 turbo. I'm planning some transmission and power upgrades to the truck to bring it to about 425 hp. I would like to add an exhaust brake and a turbo to help things out a bit towing in the mountians. The shop that I'm dealing with is suggesting a HX35/40 unit but says that selecting a given turbo is a little "hit-and-miss". If that Aurora would add some "zip" to my 8,000lb truck running around empty and keep the EGT's down a bit when towing, I'd be interested in giving it a try.

I've not seen much user info. on this turbo. Anything good or bad would be apreciated. Thanks!

Hank
