help truck wont start

Would the PE EZ be too much power for an auto transmission with

no upgrades? This would be used for faster acceleration, no heavy pulling.

Any feedback or personal experiences appreciated!

i will say that you will be just fine with ez & auto based on my personal experience with the set up. should be fine towing also. wouldn't hurt to have a pyro & boost gauge if you don't already though.

Beware of the dredded shudder when your transmission shifts into its lock-up mode. I must have a weak convertor from the get go, as mine has this shudder problem. I have seen other post describing this problem also with just addind the EZ to a stock truck. I will eventually go with a new valve body in hopes that it will correct this problem. Dont get me wrong though this is by far the best power mod. for the money you can buy in my opinion.

I must have a strong factory converter because I have not had any problems like that. I love my EZ. My truck only has 16k on it which could also be a factor!

IMO the EZ should be just fine, I ran with DD stage I and the DD ultimate power module for a while and I had no slipping of the converter on levels one and two but after that I could tell the transmission didn't like it so I sent it back-why have power if I cann't use it. If you have TC shudder just up your line pressure a little but no more then 3 turns, a gauge works best though. Too much pressure and the transmission won't shift right plus damage to other parts in the transmission.

Auto and EZ

You should have zero problems, I didn't.

I would bump up the pressure in the auto trans though, this is quite easy.

The trans pan has to be dropped, then on the left side of the valve body, near the front is a 3/16" allen head bolthead. This is the line pressure adjustment.

There is not enough room between the trans case and the bolthead to get a regular full size allen wrench into the bolthead socket, so the allen wrench needs to be cut off to make a short leg to get into the tight space.

Once you have the allen wrench in there, just back out the adjustment screw a maximum of 3 turns. [counterclockwise]

This will bump the pressures enough that the trans will shift a little later, and firmer. I liked the change.

Call Bill Kondolay at 1-866-504-4002. He will fill you in on any other details.

This adjustment is accomplished in about one or two minutes if you are already changing the trans fluid and filter.

Hope this helps, enjoy your diesel power! Greg L

I have an EZ and 275 injectors, put two turns on the line pressure adjustment screw, and everything is fine after 6k miles and light (6k) towing. Also switched to ATF-3, heard it helps the situation by increasing clutch friction. brian

Like most have mentioned, you should be okay. Think about gauges, so you know for sure what your truck is doing. The pressure adjustment is a good option, a little extra insurance, or peace of mind.

Since you stated you do not tow, the shuddering may not be felt.

You'll know it if it does happen.
