8.2 Detroit Governor problem

Did oil sample analysis (first time)

I posted this on a powerstroke forum... but realizing that they claim to sell parts for all manufacturers... i have decided to post here also... .

I will try and summarize this and make this somewhat shorter. .

Bought a Reman IDM for a 7. 3L Powerstroke. Before it ever made it to its destination (relatives home) My credit card had the agreed upon charge, and ANOTHER charge for roughly 4 times the agreed upon amount! Part shows up, install it, DOESN'T WORK!!. .

Call, finally get somebody on the phone, they agree to send me another one and don't seem surprised that their "100% tested Reman parts" don't work!. I inquire about the apparent overcharge and immediately get transferred to somebody else, finally get them on the phone, they say, "no problem, just send me a copy of the cc bill and we will refund the overcharge" I fax a copy of the bill the very next morning and never hear a thing. I call several days later, only to be accused of making this all up in an effort to scam them out of some money!!!!. Rather than argue it, I just disputed this with my cc company...

Second replacement part shows up, it doesn't function right either..... BTW, the reason I KNOW neither of these parts work right is that I had temporarily installed a borrowed IDM from another truck and the truck ran perfectly. Make yet another call to the "warranty dept" and he wants to send yeat another part... I simply told him I could NOT continue to field test parts for them and had purchased another one from another company... I inquired about returning the parts for refund. . they agreed.

I sent the parts back, never heard from them, made several calls, over the course of a couple weeks, kept gettting the run-around, every once awhile I would get assured that I would be re-imbursed. . Never happened. .

I finally pin the guy down pretty hard today and he finally says that all he can give me is store credit????? I explained that I did not need anymore broken parts, I already had plenty. .

Guys, this place is a complete and total scam... ... I took a close look at the "Reman" parts... . the IDM's still had the old, 18 year old silicone holding the housings together... the only thing that had been done was what looked like a half-baked bead blasting effort to get years of grime off the exterior... and they put a cute little "born on" sticker on the side of it with their company logo. .

I would NOT RECOMMEND DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!. .

I am currently working several avenues and going thru the motions of reporting this as fraud to the Florida Attny. Generals Office, E-Bay Motors... etc. .

Bought one from SwampsDiesel.com

Its actually I guess an upgraded one for performance use... . We really didn't care about performance on this stock engine... just wanted one that would work the first time, NOT have to pay close to $1200. 00 for it (what the Ford dealerships wanted) and didn't want to get scammed!

I will say, the guys at Swamps Diesel were EXTREMELY helpful... I ordered this thing on a Thursday afternoon, and due to all the crap going on with Auto Computer Exchange, my credit card company would not process the Swamps transaction... . They called me back and explained what happened... . To me, it was embarrassing, but they were completely professional about it... I ended up having to briefly explain to them what was going on... made a call to the cc company, then back to Swamps and everything was ok after that... . and the part arrived here in Texas on Saturday morning!!!!. .

Truck is doing great, my S. I. L. has actually been watching fuel consumption since replacing it and has noticed a measurable increase in fuel economy!...

I am about done with Ebay, I got scammed by someone in a similar deal. There is so much money to be made out there that any morals have left the shed years ago.

I needed a body computer for my Chrysler T&C and at the suggestion of JLandy, a member here, I bought one from ACE. He did caution me to buy it through their Ebay store, rather than directly from them, to have the protection that Ebay affords, which I did, and it came quick with no problems. I have heard a few complaints about them but my experience was fine. I guess they are hit and miss.

One funny thing is that NOWHERE do they state that they do NOT give refunds... atleast unitl you get the part shipped to you... !!!. . the invoice in the box has a couple paragraphs of yada-yada-yada... "we do not give refunds", yada-yada-yada... . this receipt must be signed and returned!!. For the record, i never signed anything.

The only time you ever find out that they will NOT refund your money (even if its THEIR problem) is when you get the invoice out of the parts box!!!. . Kinda late then!!!.
