Ever get out of your truck to get something out of the passenger side and find that the passenger door is still locked from when it auto-locked earlier? Damn I hate that!

I can't find my owners manual and need for someone to tell me how to disable this feature.

Thanks

Wowzy,
Cycle key on and off 4 times and then hold down lock. The manual says you'll hear a tone but I never heard it.

I wonder what this tone is. I have an audible short beep that occurs about every 30 minutes, most audible when slowing down (probably can't hear it any other time). Sounds like it's coming from in the dash. Maybe door lock notice is screwed up and it thinks I'm trying to disable while driving.

I think the tone is the same as the low fuel chime. I disabled my locks and wasn't sure I heard the "tone". Later I seamed to remember the seat belt warning or other had sounded off, but of course I did it with the seat belt disconnected and the door open and I could have been low on fuel.

Whatever the case, there seemed to be an extra chime in there someplace. Never the less, the doors don't lock and I can get in the drivers side at will.

The door lock was becoming a real issue for me,so I was happy to see your post Wowzy,& the reply,s . I did the turning the ignition on/off 4 times thing & was elated to have the doors not lock, but pissed to have them lock again the next time I drove the truck.
Surely I dont have to do the ignition thing every time I start the truck. Any pointers on what I may be doing wrong here?

Programming the door locks is on the same level as programming your VCR for the first time.

I think the key points are that the doors must be closed while you perform the procedure. Also, press the door lock switch one time after cycling the key on the fourth time.

I also think fastening your seat belt and not being low on fuel will help reduce the confusion from the various chimes.

Jboy, we can rebuild any motor known to man, do not ask us to touch the friggin VCR.

The best way to avoid the key lock is to remove the plug from the anti-lock brake controller. The only problem is that it then does not calculate miles at all.
