DIESELMAN24, ON MY 02
  1. GET IN CLOSE ALL DOORS
  2. PLACE KEY IN IGNITION, CYCLE KEY OFF TO ON FOUR TIMES ENDING IN THE ON POSITION.
  3. PRESS DRIVERS DOOR POWER LOCK (TO THE LOCK) WITHIN 30 SECONDS
  4. YOU WILL HEAR A SINGLE CHIME =DEACTIVATED
  5. TO ENABLE JUST REPEAT

Same deal with my 01. I fixed this problem the day after I bought the truck. The procedure is detailed in the owners manual. So if yours is a different year, check there.

No more mindless autolock!

To fix this annoyance was the second time I delved into my Owners Manual.

Jim

My '99 manual doesn't even outline the procedure. It says to contact the dealer. Anyway using the advice outlined it seems I'm free of this annoyance. Thanks. Also,Bob4x4 a TDR member and D/C tech reprogrammed my electronics for oversized tires and for the first time the speedometer and odometer work. Even with $3. 27 diesel here in San Diego,I've gotta keep this truck now!

1) turn key on but do not start engine.

2) press and hold UNLOCK bitton on key fob for 4 to 10 seconds.

3) While UNLOCK button is pressed, press the LOCK bitton on the key fob and then release both buttons.

4) You will hear a single chime when programming is completed.

5) Repeat to disable.

and what else can we do without a DRBII/III

I don't know that I can help you here. I don't know what a "DRBII/III" is.

Step 1: Watch eBay for a used owners manual.

Step 2: RTFM

:D Sorry, just being a smartalec. All of these procedures are in the manual; this one says:

Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed for one vehicle. When programming a new transmitter, ALL transmitters intended for use with this vehicle, except the transmitter used to start the programming mode. To program a transmitter, turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the vehicle stopped. Press and hold the unlock button on the currently programmed transmitter for a minimum of 4 seconds and a maximum of 10 seconds. While pressing the unlock button, press and release the panic button. Release the unlock button and a single chime will sound. This indicates that the module is in programming mode. Within 30 seconds, press and release the lock or unlock button on all transmitters intended for use with this vehicle except the transmitter used to start the prgramming mode. Successfule programming will be indicated by a single chime.

Sure wish I had a scanner. ;)

My 99 manual sure does. Bought it used in Salt Lake City 2 years ago, reprogrammed it on the road home to Chicago.

I'll have to remember to look when I get from a week long trip, without my CTD unfortunately (g/f wants to take her Civic. Something about better MPG. )

well, that sucks, as the only programmed keyfob I have doesnt work. Tried new batterys and such, still doesnt work, I think Its toasted. So, without a working keyfob, looks like the only way to do it is with a Scan Tool... damn it! :{

It took me a couple of days to get back to this... .

Page 11. Tells you how to add additional remotes (and I suspect starting with a completely new set,) disabling the horn chirp, and how to enable/disable the rolling door lock. There's probably 6 pages of info there.
