Hello. First post here.

I just picked up my 05 CTD last week and have a couple questions about

some minor irritations.

1. The seatbelt warning. There is a procedure in the manual for disabling

the chime which I did but it did not disable the chime.

2. The auto door unlock does not work but the auto door lock does work. There

is a procedure for enabling the that auto unlock which I did but it did not

enable that feature.

My previous truck was a 1500 Hemi and those things worked. I was able

to turn off the chime and the auto door unlock worked. This truck is an 3500

6spd and as far as the automatic door unlock goes the manual says the

vehicle must be in Park for it to work but I don't have a Park.

Can you folks with 6-spds shed some light on this subject?

Thanks,

The seatbelt chime is a somewhat tricky one to follow. When you start up it'll still chime for the seatbelt even when you turn it off. What you turn off when you do it, is the one that chimes every 60 or 90 seconds or whatever interval it is when you are moving and don't have it on.

Try applying the parking brake and see if that works with the automatic unlock. I've never tried that feature since I don't use the automatic locks either. If that doesn't work, I think you'll have a hard time putting that truck in park in order to unlock automatically.

Yes the seatbelt chime that keeps going off every 10 seconds. That one drives me insane.

I can live without the auto door unlock although I have lost count of the times I have got out, walked around to open one of the passenger side doors and had to walk back and unlock the doors from the driver's side. That's because I am used to it from the Hemi.

An easy way to disable the seat belt chime and the red warning light on the dash is to "jumper" the sensor in the driver's seat. Sometimes, I drive my truck around on the farm and don't use the seat belt since I get in and out a lot. The chime and warning light drove me nuts until I "fixed" it.

Here's a suggestion I used as shown in the TDR Magazine, Issue 48, Page 42:

"Another method is to unplug the two wire harness under the driver’s seat. The connector is easy to get to from behind the seat if you have a Quad Cab. Insert a jumper wire with blade terminals into the connector. Or you can do the “not recommended method” by cutting the wires and connecting the ends together. "

I get one little "ding" and the warning light goes out.

There's a procedure in the owners manual to eliminate the seat belt problem, I did it and it works. It just leaves the seat belt light, no sound. There is a procedure to also unlock all the doors when you open the drivers side, that one didn't work for me.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like the unlock doesn't work on 6-spds. I'll do the procedure again for the seatbelts, I must not have done it quick enough when I tried it.

Seatbelt Chime

If you are tired of listening to the seat belt chime. Take the Center seat belt and latch it into the driverside seat belt, Then you will always have a connection and you will never hear the seat belt chime again. But then if you have a problem like I do. the wife gets in there and disconnects it so she can use the drivers seat belt and forgets to latch the center one back when she done driving, it. Give it a try.

I have been able to follow the instructions in the owners manual to turn off the seat belt chime off, but the light stays on. I have the same problem with the auto unlock feature. I have a 6spd also and have tried setting the parking brake and leaving the truck in gear and nothing seems to work. It would be very nice to be able to get this feature to work. if anyone with a 6spd gets this to work any info would be greatly appreciated.

oh good. I thought I was the only one too dumb to enable that damn auto-unlock thing.

Yeah, if anyone figures it out, let us all dummies know! :)
