I have A Pacbrake and a DTT smart controller installed on my truck and love it. I do not have any transmission mods yet but will be doing vb/tc in the future . I think the Pacbrake for my truck was 735. 00 and installs in 2 hours and they are a ISO 9002 certified company ,and dont give you a bit of hassle about warranty. As a matter of fact I purchased a defective model ,called them right away and they didnt even ask any goofy questions nor did I have to send mine back first . They sent a new one Red label and asked me to call them after it was installed so they could get the old one picked up. FYI I am not a dealer for any of these products ,Just sharing my veiw on the good parts and good customer service I have received

Have the BD exhaust brake. Had it on my stock transmission for over 30,000 miles and now have it on my DTT modified trans for around 12,000 miles. No problems with either the stock or DTT trans. I might add that I am very conservative about when I use the E-brake. Only when towing and then only when nessesary. So far no problems. I have driven a friends truck with the DTT mods and the Packbrake installed with DTT smart box. I was impressed and If I were to do it again I would go with the Packbrake and DTT smart box.

David,

I am familiar with the DTT smartcontroller. I am interested to know why you like the pac over the bd. I have not had a chance to drive both yet. My understanding is pac has better top end retarding power and bd better midrange retarding power. Trying to figure out what this means in the real world, so I can decide which one to get.

Having driven both the BD & Packbrake - I felt the pack brake was the stronger retarding of the two. My BD would hold the e-brake to a lower mph ( 25mph) versus the packbrake ( around 35 mph) but the packbrake felt like it had the greater deceloration force. Just judging by the seat of the pants feel. It just felt so much more aggressive than my BD e-brake. Both trucks had the same Kondoly modifications to the trans. Bill K recomends the pack brake system over all the others. After driving both I can see why. It just works better. Good luck with which ever one you choose.

Please check my sig below. Speaking from experience, it's better to have it and not need it rather than the other way around :D and yes, I did find it indispensible coming down some steep grades on I-40 on my last trip stateside, full loaded, 12500 pounds on the scales with my slide in camper. The ride through the Great Smokey Mountains was particularly memorable  and next winter, I'm glad I have it when we go snowboarding in France and Austria - they've got their fair share of killer grades too!
