Plan to change trans fluid today. I recall seeing previous posts about getting more old fluid out by disconnecting a cooler line - which one? Please be specific, top, bottom, left or right looking from trans towards radiator etc. (thanks).

I'm familliar with loosening the VB to get that extra fluid out.

Also, recall instruction on band adjusting & checking pressures. If anyone has the links or specifics that will help me please reply.

Is Mercon III or any ATF 3 (other than Mercon II & Type F) suitable? Service manual states "ATF +3", can't find anything that states specifically "+3".

Thanks for info I need to finish today. Going out for fluid now.

Joe, you need ATF+3, the mercon and dexron 3's are not the same. The ATF+3 is a Mopar spec. I do not think the cooler line is a good way to drain the transmission, I am pretty sure the pump is not supposed to run dry. This is just my opinion, there are LOTS of guys doing it that way with no problems reported. I loosen the VB bolts myself.

Hope this helps. Good luck Joe.
