Lift Pump and FP

Hi Everyone and Thanks in advance; I am looking to install a boost and egt gauges tomorrow in the new dash pod. Haven't figured out the 3rd gauge yet. . 6-speed... I am probably going to run wiring and tubes along windscreen down over to drivers side of dash for now, prior to drilling a hole in dash. My question... connections for light circuit ? At the fuse panel maybe or somewhere else ? Also, any ideas about the 3rd gauge.

I am looking to set some baselines for the engine prior to bombing and pulling new 12,000 lb dump trailer.

2001 4x4 quad 8 ft, eth, trailer, camper, leather(even with covers here in fla, seats a bit hot) Patriot Blue-love that color. . still stock,

13,100 miles. . now getting 17. 25 mpg around town no trailer yet,

Wildcat Flash- real running boards stainless and dalmation dog hair between seats... priceless

Fuel Pressure

I decided on fuel pressure for my third gauge. As much as I read here about defective lift pumps, I opted for the peace of mind.

my vote is also for a fuel pressure gauge. Littlefuse makes a Add-A-Circuit model# FHM200 it will fit is the fuse panel on the side of the dash. use the #5 circuit, which is the illumination for the dash lights. it will give you the ability to dim the gauges.

Fuel Pressure Gauge

I would go with the fuel press. gauge, it would be nice to know what the little lift pump is doing!

Gauge lighting power source

I tapped into the instrument lighting rheostat

that is part of the headlight/interior light

switch. The dash overlay needs to be removed

to gain access to the switch assembly. The black

overlay just snaps in. Carefully pull out with

your fingers around the edges till all the tabs

are pulled out. The part I am talking about is

the black plastic overlay that surrounds all the

gauges, radio, AC/Heat controls etc. When it is

removed, then there are three screws that hold

the light switch in. Remove them and pull out on

the assembly and look for the tan wire. Use a wire

tap and connect your positive wire for the gauge

lighting here. Find a suitable place on the metal

frame of the dash somewhere under the steering

column area for the ground wire. The square kick

panel under the steering column comes off to

expose a couple of good places for the ground

wire.

This way your gauge lights will dim when you dim

you instrument lights.
