What do you like and dislike about these two types of gauges?

I'm having trouble trying to decide

auto meter :-{} di procol

I just ordered the DiPricol guages today, but am trying to decide how to mount them. I don't really like the "pillar" mounts because the grab handle has to be removed and they block the view even further than the already awful factory blind spot. I want a dash mount or something else functional that won't block view.

I went with DiPricol guages becuase they are mechanical. The autometer pyrometer is electric, which means another wire to run and hook up and more to potentially go wrong. I have mechanical Banks guages on my old truck and wanted to stick with the trouble free design of mechanical operated guages.

Anyone have a suggestion for a mount? I need to mount only a boost and pyrometer guage in the '03.

I read in an older thread that some people were having trouble with their diprocol's matching each other at night. On meter would be brighter then the other. Is this a thing of the past with Di procol now? Anybody have a pic of there's at night or take one tonight and post tomorrow maybe?

Di Pricol fixed the night lighting issue toward the end of last year. Mine don't look so good but the new ones match the factory gauges exactly. I've had no functionality problems with Di Pricol's and I'm on my second set now.

As for mounts there are three common options. On the pillar, in the dash cubby hole (below the heater controls on non-Laramie trucks), or on the steering column. A search will yield pictures of any of these three.

I chose Autometer for their reputation. I have used Autometer in my last three trucks. The only failure was a EGT that was replaced free. I just like Autometer.

As for a mount, try the column mount. Some people complain that it blocks to much of the factory cluster. The only thing mine blocks is the odometer (and it would block the gear indicator if I had an auto).

Click on my "Reader's Rigs" link to see my Autometer Phantom Series Boost & Pyro in the cubby hole. Got my mount from Colorado Diesel. My picture is not the best in the world, but it will give you an idea.

Hope this helps.

Geno's has, or soon will have top dash pods for 3Gs. Ive ordered mine , but it is not here yet. They say they expect them any day. I have run all of my wires. I just need to drill the themocouple and install the actual gauges. If they don't show up tomorrow I will probably mount the gauges temporarily in a block of wood.
