Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Auto or stick computer...will either work?

I am looking for a computer to run the heater grid on my conversion (see sig). Will it make any difference whether I use a computer from a stick or a manual transmission Cummins? Are all computers from 94 to 98 basically the same? I want to make sure the auto trans portion of the computer will not effect the heater grid portion since it is not getting any input. I don't think it will but I wanted to get second opinions.

I asked this question once before (here) and yes they are different. I don't know much about how they work but I have a PCM from a '96 auto if you need one.

When I was having alt. troubles I looked at pricing a PCM (since the regulate the voltage the alt. sees). There were 4 different PCMs for my truck. So I would think they'd all be different.

I wonder if there's 4 due to auto and stick 49 state, and auto and stick Kalifornia with the EGR system? Hard to say. Since all I'm interested in is the heater grid control I am gonna roll the dice that any will work.
