Does anyone know is Dodge working on a new auto to go with the H. O. engine. GM has the Allison and I see Ford is coming out with a new Auto with the new 6. 0 is Dodge working on a new auto that will handle the new H. O. engine?

At the recent TDR National Rally in Columbus, Ind. we

had a chance to talk with Dodge and Cummins reps.

about the new trucks.

According to what they said, Dodge will be offering

a 48RE transmission around the middle of January

2003. This transmission is supposed to be a "beefed-

up" version of the 47RE which is in the trucks now,

including a better torque converter, re-designed

valve body and heavier clutch packs.

Yes - the new automatic will be able to have the H. O. motor in front of it, so tow ratings and the HP/Torque numbers will go up.

Just came back from the dealer I purchased my '95 from and right there in the dealer's specs information book, it was in black and white..... the 48RE to be mated to the H. O. ; the note next to it stated it was to be released later in the year. Which is exactly what Steve St. Laurent told us all in his report back in February.

John P,

Did you also hear the part about "exhaust brake compatable" and that the torque converter clutch locks up in all gears except 1st?

Bill

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you guys. I was

gone over the weekend.

Kevin:

It looks like the members already answered your question.

Yes, I did hear the them say that about the exhaust brake

and TC too. My question is why have they waited all this

time to do all those things?? Seems like the "aftermarket"

companies have helped to bring some of this about!
