Auto Shifter Problem?

This weekend I had intermitent problems shifting into Drive.

It slides out into neutral when starting out slowly a few times and other times it wont go all the way into the 'red" mark and have to slip it into 2nd and back to drive for drive.

A few times, going from Drive to neutral gets me into reverse.

Is something getting loose in linkage?

check that shift linkage!!!! Sounds like you may be lost a bolt in the arm brace or may just be in need for a adjustment.

I had a brace come loose and mine started acting about the same as yours. .

If the linkgage is tight check to see if the red indicator is off. It's just a little chinscy lever with a loop of wire over it. Remove the knee bolster and you can get to it easy. Just bend the lever a little to adjust it. Kind of a low rent gadget to say the least.

Was just wondering how to check if linkage is loose. My shifter is loose on the column and somtimes pops out of gear when starting out. I do have the service manual. Does anyone know where it's at in the book? Thanks
