Ok guys, I am in the process of doing an auto swap on my truck, I have my column and wiring harness now, and I'm trying to figure some stuff out. I've never owned an auto 2nd gen, so bear with me on the stupidity.

The first picture is linkage. Is it supposed to have a bend to it? Does the small transfer case linkage looking rod go to the trans from the linkage? Anyone have a picture of stock linkage installed in a truck?

The other pictures are different wiring connectors that appear to be a little different than what I have now...

Is this the fuel heater connector? What is the 3 pin for that is attached right by it? The bottom picture is the same connector. Any thoughts on what the 2 bare wires are supposed to be for thhat come out of the harness at the same spot?

Oil pressure sensor? Almost seems like it should be a tps connector based on proximity to grid heater wiring... Anyone have a picture of a 12valve TPS?

A factory manual will give you the wire gage and the color. It also shows connectors and splices. I have most of the stuff to do this swap but I like the idea of keeping my wiring harness and going to an aftermarket transmission controller. I must do some more research on that.

Most of the harness push-in holders and clips are available from Au-ve-co who must OEM most of them for all the car companies. If you can find your local distributer they might sell you broken packs so you can have a like new harness installation which is important for long term reliability. If you download the catalog and can identify them there is a place nearby that will probably ship them to you.

Lokar (sp?) makes a nice floor shifter for the autos that will exit the factory boot and looks really nice. It does need to be carefully modified so it won't pull into second out of drive without pushing the detent button. That said I will be watching how your column shift comes out as clearing up the floor space in my standard cab might be nice.

I don't believe the tranfer case shifter should have a bend in it. It should look just like the one for the manual transmission xfer case only maybe different in length.

Good luck,

Scott
