I have not found a real good thread about this so i am starting one here.

here's what i have found so far this is for a 97 12v 3500 4x4 auto to a 6speed. (i will be updating this list as i go IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE ADD THE APPROPRIATE INFO) i think many more people will atempt this if they knew exactly how much and what part #'s

Vendors that can help:

1. Jim leonard

2. Enterprise engine

3. Bluementhal Transmissions

Problems:

1. transfer case is a 23spline in the autos the 6spd needs a 29spline must convert.

2. stick shift is to skinny for the new boot must wrap w/ pipe insulation and duct tape to close gap.

3. for the cruise control to work a couple of wiring splices must be made for the neutral safety switch(from what i am told no big deal)

4. tranfercase shifter hole need to be cut

5. the 6speed must be drilled and tapped to hold shift linkage(6speed comes with appropriate boss)

6. starter must be shimmed unless you get the 12 1/4 inch flywheel from southbend it still accepts a 13" clutch.

7. some have has said bellhousing but others say no i really dont know??????need help on that one!

Parts #'s and price list i have so far:

1. $2000-2500 6speed with 13/8 shaft ( i think 6speed from 01 and up have this)

2. new cross member $200

3. shift linkage stick and plate b/t transmission and mount $200

4. steering column shrout $22

5. new boot for shifter $?

6. pedals $?

7. upgraded clutch and fly wheel southbend $?

8. mod drive shafts both 6"s

i need parts numbers anyone? i will update this list as members and as i find out more so all the reading public can do this swap on there own! after all that is why these trucks are so much fun!

conversion

I will help you as several people have sent me PM to help. I will try to get the part numbers for the peddles. Peter at south bend I think sells the slave cylinder assemble also

I have found a guy to sell me a new and no core nv5600 to close to the number you have. I would use the kit from South Bend, How ever if you could buy a clutch from the classified on the Forums the money could be less. The input for the transfer case could be bought the same way. It would be great to finally shift the truck and it pulls at the rpm I wont. The tps switch finally fixed for good..... jim
