i recently changed my truck from auto to manual. my truck is a 97 and the transmission and transfer case are from a 98. where the speedometer plugs into the transfer case on my old setup, isnt on the new transfer case. there is the impression in the case where it should go, but its seeled like its part of the casting. i could possibly knock that out but the pieces would fall into the case(no good). whats the fix for this problem?

There is a plastic gear that goes in there and rides against another gear inside the T-Case. I know the later models used the speedo sensor in the rear-end, not sure what year they started though.

I don't know if there is anything behind there in the 98+ T-Case. I think they get the speed from the rear differential. Pete

I believe as Pete97 as stated in 98 they put a vehicle speed sensor in the rear differential.

You would have to find out if the the 98 transfer case has the gearing to accept a gear for the vehicle speed but I doubt it.
