Shakin' the cobwebs out of the towing machine....

With 62K miles I've developed a very loud, and noticable whining noise. Sounds like off road tires on the highway, its rpm dependent. If I drop it into neutral, noise is gone. Lock out 4th gear OD noise goes away. No performance of or shift problems, no slipping (Temp reads in normal range). I serviced at 25 & 50K. Fluid looks good. I suspect a problem with this OD unit ?
Is it a major $$$ repair? Should I go to DC or AAmco?

What a shame, I baby this truck. Never towed anything. This may be my 1st and last DC product. I drove to work today in 3rd doing 55 @ 2500 rpm.

Any advice, is this a common DC "slushbox" problem ?????

Thanks, Ron

What year is your truck? Prior to '96 the OD gears were not getting as much oil as they should and tended to overheat and fail.

I have any early 98
