We have a '94 2500 4x4 w/auto. The truck is stock and has about 215,000 miles. At 200,000 we had the trani serviced and they found nothing wrong and no visable problems. At about 205,000 we repalced the TPS because we couldn't go into LU or in to OD as well as not having cruse control. About 6 weeks (212,500) ago we started having problems with the thing dropping in and out of LU in OD, but the cruse still works, we had the trani serviced again and again they found no visable pronblems.

But it's like a ghost, one day it will act up a couple of times and then it wont do it for a day or two. I have taken it to a couple of different transmittions shop in the local area and they can't seem to find anything and the dumb thing doesn't want to act up for them.

My question is has anyone ever had this hapen to them and What in the world was the fix for it?? Before this started we have had no problems with the trani at all.

Thanks and Have a good day Brian:)

BLeary,

Did anyone check the voltage of the new TPS?

I can't recall what the different volt outputs are right off, but it can get out of adjustment and cause what you describe. I'm sure someone will chime in with more input on this.

Probably just the TPS is slightly out of adjustment or it may be dirty. Spraying contact cleaner on it seems to help. The trans shops should know how to adjust or check the TPS with the scan tool.

BLeary,

Since the transmission has been checked out mechanically, I would assume the problem is electrical. The new TPS must have helped. As VC suggested, make sure the voltage measurement at the TPS is correct.

Has anyone checked the performance of the PCM?

The transmssion temperature sender could be erratic or the cables that connect the various signals to the transmssion could be loose or corroded. Especially if they had been removed and reconnected at some time.

Did the transmission shop check the OD and TC lockup solenoids and connections when they serviced the transmission?

Do you still have the original throttle cable and linkage?

There is currently a recall on that.

Just a few things that could be checked.

Good luck
