Hey folks, I've been travelling in the Ram most of this year and have just stopped where I can tend to some neglected maintenance projects (Dad's garage). British Columbia and Alaska were awesome despite the forest fires.

First thing first: my 47RE is leaking ATF and it comes out of the crack where the transfer case is bolted to the transmission. This leads me to believe the rear seal (is that the yoke seal?) is in need of replacement. I've done some searching and can't find any specifics on doing the job on a 4x4.

Can anybody shed some light on the job? I have the FSM, tools, time, and no money so I'll be trying this one on my own. Thanks.

I believe your transfer case uses atf also. You may want to check the fluid level there if you haven't already.

I just looked at my manual for the 47RH and it doesn't show a seal between transmission and the OD or between OD and the tail piece. The tail piece has the seal.

Where there is a transfer case, it has a front seal and the rear seal is in the tail piece. I would assume the RH and RE transmissions would be similar in this respect.

Your problem may just be the gasket.
