Auto Trans Shift Lever Loose

On occasion my shift lever does not fully engage (spring) into Park. It is locked in "park" in the trans itself but the indicator shows it is in "R" and will not start until I push the lever a bit further up & forward and then the "P" lights up.
Is this a bushing issue?
