Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auto trans shift problem

I had to shift between Rev. and Dr. about 10 times today to get turned around in a tight spot. When I was done and started to drive away the auto. would not start out in 1st,only second. It kept doing this until I turned the truck off and then it would start out in 1st but would not shift until 2400-2500. If I stopped and went into R. then D. it would not use first again. It is an 02 with 51000 miles and no trans. problems until now. Anybody got any ideas?

check for codes. turn ignition key off,on three times, do not start engine. leave key on after third time, read codes in odometer window. let us know what you find.

Thanks for the reply. Just did what you said. "P PCU" then "P 1757" then "done" then "P ECU" then "P 1693" then "done" . I don't have a clue.

rd buck . the p-1757 code is governor pressure above 3 p. s. i. when requested is o p. s. i. looks like your governor is the problem. dont have my manual home. someone will come on and give you the answer.
