I recently purchaced a used 98 1/2 24v, 47re quad. It has over 100,000 miles on it, and the trans slips when in OD. Cant tell if its converter or OD clutches. I will rebuild it myself. I pull trailers occasionally, up to 10,000 lbs. Does anyone recommend a good combo of billet converter, valve body, clutch and seal kit for my truck? I have a factory service manual, but does anyone have a performance book on this trans, kinda like HP books 727 book, which I have?

I don't think there is a book on the 47 series trans out yet.

I love the DTT trans I parts I put in mine. As do all other guys with DTT. Why go with a Billet converter? Build it with fewer internal leaks and it will treat you good.

I will have to replace the converter anyway due to possible contamination, (fluid was black when I bought the truck). Of what I read about stamped steel covers warping, I think upgrading the converter is worth the expense and piece of mind. I forgot to say this truck has a Banks Powerpack, of which I have no info on.

There's a bunch of good product out there. The best thing to do is for folks to read up on each of the companies you're interested in, and go with the stuff YOU think is the best design/price/value for your application. For what you're doing I doubt you could go wrong with anything from the major aftermarket trans suppliers.

Good luck.
