Have any of you been able to connect the sending unit on a auto trans temp gauge to the factory hook up for the sensor connected to the trans temp light on the dash? Truck is a 1996. If so, how did u do it? Thanks

You can't remove the stock sender, besides powering the warning light it also senses the temp so your trans can kick into OD after it warms up or out if it overheats. Check the archives for much info on installing an AT temp sender, many folks replace the output line to the cooler with one from a '95, they have a port for the sender built in.

95 3500,5 speed 3:54,BD E-brake,Driftwood,Banks&Psycotty,34,000 GCVW apple and tractor hauler(works harder truck)

The only problem (if it is one) will be upshift and OD lock when trans is cold.

I have heard the middle test port will work fine too.

I agree with Extreme1's comments.

I chose to buy the replacement line because I had the crappy fittings.

Extreme, I was about to include the same line in my post, but got to thinking that the way that DC is cheap assed that they must have seen a need for the OD engagement temp function or they wouldn't have included it. I personally don't know.

Ryan, for '94-'95 there is another trick recommended by Bill K, install the stock sender in the middle transmission test port, your new sender in the output line port. The resistor may be less work, but you will then lose the function of that sender.
