My 99 is getting long in the transmission department, 160,000 miles, other than a rebuild is there any reasonable replacement packages that someone has had experience with?

I am not into the horsepower thingy, I am into MPG, the power it came with is OK, and more would be good but not at the expense of lower MPG.

Thanks

If you want another 160k out of the transmission be prepared to spend around 4k for any one of the big trans outfits here. It will be well worth your money in the long run and put more of the power to the ground than the stock unit. The big trans vendors all include new TQ converter and Valve body + all sorts of other parts. You can always take it to a local trans shop and pay somewhere around $12-1500 . . . every 2 or 3 years . . . Do it once, do it right and keep on trucking. You get what you pay for - MHO

Drive it...

Are you having any trouble with the transmission currently, and do you have any major mods done to it, such as a box, or injectors. I have an almost completely stock 99 and I have 235k on it. Only thing I've dont to the transmission is fluid change. Ive dont the apps rewire and put on a BD noise filter. Truck still gets great mileage and shifts smoothly. I asked the same question a couple of years back on another forum and everyone agreed, that if I wasnt adding hp or anything like that... . And its not broken. Dont fix it.

I too have the stock 47RE w/200K on it, no HP mods, change fluid every year, pulls and shifts smooth as silk. I am thinking of a valve body kit and maybe a converter.
