I have had this truck since June 17th (2005 2500 4X2 5.9).
Today I took a short trip and made two or three stops...No trouble until the last one. I started out to home and noticed sluggishness. As I drove along for a couple of miles the trans. didn't change....even when I slowed or sped up. I finally decided to pull over and turn the engine off to see if something electronic was going on.
Well, apparently it was. Everything started changing and operating normally. When I got home I checked the fluid level and if the fluid smelled burned. No problem. Does anyone have any Idea what may have caused the problem?? I would appreciate a little guidance.

Thanks for any help!

Gove pressure transducer and\or gov solenoid, VB electrical harness. When you change the fluid and filter, change the transducer and gov solenoid out.

Thanks for the reply....I haven't changed the fluid since I got the truck and I'm not real sure when the transmission was last serviced. So, here's a good opportunity.
I appreciate the information....this is a valuable site!!!:)

This is a common problem on the autos in 3rd Gen trucks. The permanent fix (for me, anyway) was to bite the bullet and get a Suncoast billet valve body with the GM solenoid. Worked great from 40K until totalled a couple months ago at 209K.

Mikey you're talking above my pay grade....could you be a little more specific on your recommendation like part #'s and where to get a suncoast valve body etc.?

There are multiple sources for these VB's that fix the inherent problems with the OE setup, Suncoast is just one of the vendors. Search for 48RE valve body and you will get a wide range of choices. Part number will depend on your year of truck. There are at least 2 revisions of the 48RE VB and a 47RE will fit also. Best to make sure it is specific for your year for best results. Actually, a local builder can probably do as good a job as an expensive VB by installing a shift correction kit. It depends on how familiar they are with the weaknesses and issues. There are alos some relatively inexpensive upgrades that will enhance the trans operation and life expectancy.

I appreciate the reply and I've done the research and purchased the BD-Power 1060602 Pressure Transducer Kit and The ATS 36031002188 GM Governor Pressure block Conversion.
Now...all I have to do is get the filter and gasket kit to change the Trans. fluid. Thanks for the guidance. I hope all this takes care of the problem !!!:)
