I have change the oil in my 1999 using the method of connecting a hose to the outer line of the cooler then starting the truck. Catching about 10 quarts using this method before removing the pan. I reviewed the article in issue # 64 page 11 for a proceedure on 94-07 written by Robert Patton:confused: to try and change the oil in my 06. I find the outboard line does not appear to have a fitting that I can disconnect. It has a fitting I am not familiar with connected directly to the outboard port on the cooler. The inboard port has a short hose about 10 inches and then connects to a fitting I could take apart with a wrench. Question is are the in and out of the cooler on the 06 switched with the cold line inboard on the cooler output ? Is there a method of releasing the coupling on the outboard port if it is the return line ?

Input appreciated

A follow up on my previous post about transmission. oil change.

I checked the Temp. of the lines comming out of the cooler with a Temp. monitor. The line on the outside port of the cooler is the return line, temperature about 20 degrees cooler when engine warm and outside Temp about 85.

I am now trying to find information if the coupling on the port of the cooler can be disconnected and reconnected ?

Help appreciated.

Found some information in a CD service manual for 2006. The manual lists a tool called a release tool 6937 to release the lines connected to the transmission cooler. Found it under replacement of the cooler. Does anyone have any information on this tool ?

Found more information from NAPA auto parts. There is a tool made by OTC. Part # 6047

sells for about $38. 00 that is used in place of the Chrysler part # 6935.

Will try to find another way to drain oil at the other end of the line near the transmission.
