I recently purchased a 2002 3500 with an auto trans. I'm wondering if I can install an exhaust brake with and auto and not run into trouble.

I have had several before, but this is my first auto----I've always had manuals before.

You can, many do. You'll need a means of locking up the TC. Quite a few companies sell brakes and lock-up systems. Pac Brake and BD are just 2 of them.

I went to DTT with only 30K on the clock and had them rebuild my auto for towing with billett input and 2nd gear cage. Got their smart controller and a Banks 4" exhaust brake. Installed Jammer 1's and Comp without tap. Towed good, but could not use all the power because of EGT's, so got a PDR35 to replace HY35.

Beside handling the exhaust brake, the DTT transmission really puts the power to the ground.

Will be towing later today, which is the first real tow after getting the bigger turbo last winter.

People told me to get an inline brake, not a turbo mounted brake, so that turbo choices are not limited, but I did not listen.
