I have been having a little trouble with auto transmission lately,,It sticks in drive/locked up when comming to a stop sign,,bucks and shudders like crazy until i drop it 2 `nd. . It has only started to do this since it has gotten cold here in Ontario,Canada.
transmission has got a Dunnrite low stall converter,Transgo diesel shift kit,,line pressure and boost valve jacked up
I know the auto is the week link in these trucks,,but i pull a 28` race trailer all over and i dont want it breaking down again,,so any advice on what to do to make it bullet proof would be appreciated.
Now if Dodge could only give us an Allisson like the other guys???

Thanks for the help.

This is the same symptom you get if you have a manual lockup switch for the TCC and forget to turn it off when you stop (the TCC stays locked up). If the transmission won't kick down (passing gear) then I would suspect that the TCC lockup solenoid is sticking or you have a short in the circuit controlling it. Does it shift rougher than expected from 2nd to 3rd to OD? If you have OD locked out does it lock up the TCC some time after it shifts to 3rd? If it does not then TCC is probably already locked when it shifts. You might try adjusting the kick down cable and see if that affects the problem. Also you might try some contact cleaner on the TPS. It may be sending the computer a bad signal and it's not dropping the TCC lockup like it should.

Hi Joe
Thanks for the reply.
The transmission doesn`t seem to be already locked up when it shifts to drive/O. D. locked out or to O. D normal. I did notice lately that it seems to shift a little to fast to drive and seems to drag the motor down when it locks the T. C...
This summer i did have a problem with some metal shavings jamming the boost valve and making the transmission refuse to shift in drive. . The transmission had been redone just 6 months earlier at a Dodge dealer where friends of mine work,,,they were very helpfull,,and were willing to listen to the advice i had gotten from Tony at Dunnrite. .
So when i brought it in again with that problem,,it just so happenned a Dodge rep was there, and when he saw i was good friends with the people there,,told me he could fix it so would not break again,,,so when i asked why he didn`t do it to all the trucks at the factory,he replied "well i wouldn`t have a job then would i??" Great eh??
Well any help i can get i will take,,i` m starting to doubt all these so called transmission experts out here.
Thanks

Hooter,I noticed you are useing continuos wheel balancers. Could you please explain or e-mail me a link for imformation on the item and how well do they work? Thanks in addvance. Bill T.

Hi Bill
I notice you`re from Texas,,,,that`s where i got those continuous wheel balancers from. .
They are basically a flat disc with the round tubular edge filled with some kind of granullar product which when you start rolling it automaticly find the balance point. I had seen them on 18 wheelers before and got the info from a trucker... It reduce the vibration felt when driving by a whole bunch. . They are a little pricey though,,$200. 00 a pair. 2 pairs needed.
Thanks
Mario
