Ever since we got back from pulling a 5th wheel to California and back (about a month ago), the transmission will occasionally act funny. The first thing in the morning, I will back out of the garage, drive 75 yards or so to the first stop sign, then step on the gas and the truck acts like it's in neutral. It will rev up and then I'll hear a big "clunk" and it takes off. It won't do this again until some other random morning a few day later. Does this sound like a TC drain issue? I'm seriously considering getting the DTT VB and TC, but would like to know what's going on with mine.

Thanks,
Kevin

Mine transmission also started to shift improperly. I then learned that I was checking the transmission ATF level incorrectly. It took two quarts to bring the level up to where it should be. The transmission shifted properly after that. The second dealer who looked at my transmission found a small dripping leak. They corrected it and I've not needed to add fluid again.

Sounds just like what mine did. I foung that it was improper fluid level. It will check ok if you check it in neutral. Dave georend advised me to check and fill mine with tha emergency brake on and put it in drive. This allows all the drums to stop turning and slinging all the fluid all over the dip stick. Mine took an extra 2 quarts, and no more slipping into neutral. Mine was always really slow latching in untill i fillered er up properly.

It took me a while to get back to you guys, but you were right on. My transmission fluid was not even registering on the dip stick (I don't know why it was so low).

Thanks,
Kevin
