Yesterday I noticed that the transmission seems to act like it's hunting for a different gear. I'll be traveling at highway speeds and the RPM will intermittently climb approx 100 and drop back to it's normal level. This happens at lower speeds also even when I have the over drive off.

You can feel the difference in the engine RPM's and the shifting of the transmission from one gear to another or just racing for a couple of seconds.

Is this the dreaded sign of my transmission going to that big junk yard in the sky or could it be just a seloniod gone bad?

My transmission started 'hunting' just before it went 'south. ' I even found myself shifting manually between 2nd and 3rd in traffic because it couldn't decide on it's own. After it completely failed I purchased ($3500)a complete 'DTT' rebuild, and now, after only 15K miles, it's starting again. It may just (I hope) be the 'govenor solonoid'.
