I hav a '99 Q cab- afe intake, 275 hp tst inj, 4" exh, edge box, boost and pyro gauges, 354 gears, 285-75-16 rubber with a pullrite 5th for a short bed and a 38' fifth wheel that weighs in at a tad over 12,000 lbs. Last weekend I brought it home from the kids placs-a little over 15 miles. T he truck pulled it home just fine. On monday when I left for work, it wouldn't shift into second without releasing the throttle pedal. From 2nd on up it worked just fine I thought. On the way home. I have an onramp that is uphill, I released the throttle so it would shift into 2nd and so on. As soon as I pressed the throttle again, it went right back into first. And it has to be going at least 2800 to 3000 rpm to stay in second after it shifts to second. Really annoying starting out on an incline! Atf level is good and its fresh. I would really appreciate any ideas to straighten this thing out.

This is my second turbo diesel. The first was a 1990 5 sp. I put all the Banks goodies on it to help it out a little and it was a hoot to drive. 456,000 miles in 13 years and not one problem with it either. That truck was as close to bullet proof as you can get. When I sold it , it still had the original clutch, brake rotors and drums. The entire front end was still original-no alignment probs at all. and it still got close to 25 mpg as long as I behaved my self. Kept it under 70 mph or so. And above that , it was definitely acceptable too.

This '99 is much nicer inside and all, but it is no way up to the standards of that old one. I should've done my homework before I bought this one with that d*** vp44 fuel pump. Oh yeah $2200 later. What a joke this system is! Oh well enough snivelling.
