ok guys, in need of a little advice here... .

history of 99' auto trans:

55,000 miles---serviced and added hy-tec pan

75,000----------drained and replaced fluid

98,000----------took to dealer for low power and sluggish shifts,

dealer adjusted bands, serviced trans and

changed fuel filter

104,000--------reverse and 1st not engaging properly, will start to

take off and feel like it wants to kick out of gear

(conditions began after they serviced and adjusted

bands). dealer says it sounds like low line

pressure and wants to pull the transmission and

look at it.

driving habits:

60 mile round trip to work

city driving in town of 30,000

country two-lane roads

80% empty (truck weighs 9-10k)

15% 1-6000 lbs.

5% 6000-20000lbs.

I am a 4-H agent and depend on my truck for work and personal use around the farm. I am also a T-10 paraplegic from a rodeo accident and use a wheelchair, this limits my ability to use a rental or borrow anyone elses vehicle. when my trucks down, I'm down! any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the pump is sucking air, like its low on fluid, did you check the fluid? It makes sense too, since this started happeningafter you got it back form the shop. Some "techs" dont check them in N,like your supposed to. Just check it before you bring it in,might save you a lot of money.

Seeing that it was done at the dealer maybe they only put the amount of fluid back in that is required for a stock pan and didn't bother to check it.

TDR to the rescue

I don't know if I should feel stupid or lucky.

Apparently the tech at the dealer and the guy at my regular oil shop (had in for oil change after it went to the dealer) are unable to read a trans dip-stick. Checked it this evening and had just a drop on the end of the stick. One quart of fluid later and all is well. Better take off, better shifts and no shop bill. Thanks guys
