Today I had the good fortune to spend some time with Mike and Chris ( and Andy) at their shop. While I was there I had the front Mag-Hytec cover and the fast coolers installed. Chris ( DieselB59) did the wrenching while I ( as always) looked over his shoulder and learned more about my truck. Chris is beyond meticulous in his work. Every truck I have seen him wrench on, not just mine, he treats as if it was his own. There are no short cuts taken at this shop, period.
The Mag-Hytec for the Dana 60 is the same quality as the cover they make for the 80, almost too nice to put on the bottom of the truck. The fast coolers are of the same quality. I chose to mount the lexan cover on the exhaust side of the transmission. Chris suggested the use of the short fast cooler for this area and it worked out great, with a decent amount of clearance for my exhaust. It's real neat to watch the transmission at idle, seeing the oil circulate.
We also removed my spool valve, for the BD brake, and cleaned same. Piece of cake and I am now ready to perform the next cleaning myself easily.
Also got a good look at a 12 valver 3500 that was at the shop for a transmission upgrade. The owner lives in Florida and had it trucked up to the shop for repair. That says alot for customer satisfaction. The truck is a beast, with 22. 5" big rig wheels and tires. Simply incredible.
If you are in the area, you really need to check A. W. D. out, you will not be disappointed.
