Auto Zone has a fuel lift pump for $141 , part #E7153 , that supposedly is for my 98. 5, 24v.

I looked at the pump, and while i couldn't do a side by side check, it looks the same. It is made by Carter, and guaranteed for 1 yr.

Has anyone used this pump, and is it a "drop in" replacement ?

Same pump as Cummins is selling ? ( #4090046 ).

Thanks,

zeke

Cummins came out with an in house notice at one time that the aftermarket Carter pumps do not have the same duty cycle as their oem units.

i dont know about the duty cycle but my cummins pump only lasted about 30,000 miles about 8 months. i bought the autozone pump because it was all that i could find on a saturday afternoon

What did the notice say? That the difference in from oem to aftermarket is that the duty cycle on an aftermarket is longer????????

Just my two sense on any fuel pump from Autozone/Advance/Murrays/O'reily's I have replaced more then enough, and re-replaced them less than a year later. Might be guaranteed for a year, but i'd rather buy something with higher quality and pay more, then to waste my time replacing the fuel pump a second time, regardless if it was "under warranty"... ... A certain Tommy Boy quote comes to mind... "i can **** in a box and mark it guaranteed if you'd like"
