Hi Guys -- Truck is 1997 3500 T.D., problem started with no 1-2 up-shift; had to run up to maximum RPMs and slack off throttle to get it to do the 1-2 shift. Today no up-shift at all -- stuck in low. Fluid level is fine. Trans was overhauled 10,000 miles ago. How much doo-doo am I in? I'm a young 70 year old on small social security income. Truck only has 126,000 miles on it. -- Good Bob

Electronic Governor solenoid would be my guess........Let me ask a transmission guy I know and I'll post more.....maybe someone else will post also.

You may also want to check your transmission relay......Have someone hook up a scan tool and see if you can see transmission parameters. Also, find out if the TPS is working.

Does it *never* up shift?

My '98's been doing it on occasion, but it does upshift up around 2800 RPM. And sometimes it doesn't downshift out of direct, but an extra half inch of foot overcomes this problem. Trouble codes complain about no gov. pressure or very high gov. pressure.
