My friend has a 96 12V with factory power door locks and factory alarm/remote locks. Whenever he turns the key on the doors lock automatically. I'm sure like any other alarm this can be done away with. Any one know how? Or have a manual they look up for me? Did a search and had no luck.

Thanks,

Scott

Dealer Alarm

I also have a 1996 12 valve, but with a :) dealer:) alarm. I don't believe that there was a factory alarm available. What your friend has on his truck is probably whatever brand the salesmen with the best pitch gave. (That's not necessarily a bad thing. ) Whatever brand it is, the dealer can reprogram the microprocessor on the truck and the key remotes to do all sorts of things, some of them useful. A common ploy at purchase time is to "upgrade" the alarm for $50 to $150 include passive arming and automatic door locks. If you can locate the owners manual for the unit, you can often do the same for free by flipping DIP switches.

A common brand installed by dealers is a "Silencer. " I had quite a bit of trouble with mine, but the dealer made good on it. As a "spiff," he activated all the features. I still have it, and use two alarm horns (one under the hood, one in cab) instead of the truck's horns.

Let me rephrase this, the only brand/symbol on the alarm is Chrysler. We have the book to show you how to use it, but that's it. Nothing about changing DIP's or parameters just how to push the buttons. I have not been in it yet. I was looking for anyone that had the correct DIP/Jumper to change/remove to disable this feature?

Aha!

I stand (sit) corrected. If it turns out that it is a house badged Silencer, I can maybe help.
