Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Automatic Tran won't shift Help

I have a 98 24 Valve 2500 that won't shift. When in drive she starts out in 3rd gear and stays there, she does not down shift or go into overdrive. I can manually shift into 1st and 2nd just fine. She has 130,000 miles and never had a problems up to this point. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Do a "Search" on "Governor Solenoid" and "Pressure Transducer" I think you will find the answer to your problem.

Been there done that with the 01. A little over $300 with labor. The two parts were around $65 each. These were the part numbers:



56028196AA Transducer

56028196AD Replacement part number for above

4617210 Solenoid



I won't personally work on an auto.

Easy fix

Replaced both solenoids in my 02 working in the driveway in less than 2hrs. If you are so inclined it is an easy job,maybe a tad messy.
